2024 Q1 IN REVIEW CORTEXHIVE

It's kind of weird doing quarterly reviews but this is a tradition I want to build to help put things in perspective for me.

Starting this year I had the goal of building my career as a freelancer into an agency,  as simple as this couple of words are 3 months later, with close to 1million Naira spent I still haven't sniffed any revenue.

So my plan is simple

Given that I am well established in upwork and I have gained ample credibility, the goal is to take this and drive the growth of my agency. The agency would focus on startups building python related solutions, this might look extremely streamlined but keep in mind I am a python developer with a decade of experience, and using python I have build web apps, AI tools and Models, carried out some form of data analysis, built standalone systems with the use of microcontrollers like the raspberry pi series plus if you really wanted to get it done, you could also run python on mobile, so in a way python is universal and I have experienced its universality, and that for me makes it the appropriate place to start.

I would be able to provide guidance to developers that work in my agency, and impart knowledge and growth I have gained over the years while they take on actual jobs and get paid. The catch to this was that I will be working with only Nigerian developers, I also needed a service that enabled a remote first developer agency hence upwork.

For the startups they would have a senior developer lead their product development and an entire team of developers dedicated to building their product.

Now over to the human resource section of things, I onboarded 4 experienced and growth oriented devs I know and to be honest I would say I missed my way slightly here, you know how my focus was majorly python related projects I totally missed that, nows these devs that I onboarded were OGs, one recently got a job at interswitch, one has works in the Nigerian fintech sector and has been doing thisfor nothing less than 5 years, ond the other works for a US data streaming and data monitoring service, OOOJHIZZZ!!!!

My critical mistake in all of this were only one person was a python dev, I also didn't take into consideration some upwork dynamics, one of which is the huge mountain of going from No jobs to your first Job, especially since agencies make applications using a freelancer as their point man. This right here is where I was stuck at the end of the first quarter.  I have since made a couple of changesFirst of all, stay on the path I originally designed and not lose focus.,Secondly onboard developers I need and create a community.Since that would make it easy to pull developers from our community directly into open spots that we have.

Well as at the time of writing this we are already 2 weeks into the second quarter, if have an upwork account and you have at least 1job in progress or completed, you work from Nigeria and you would like to be part of our community you can contact me through my email, twitter or linkedIn.

I look forward to hearing from you, I should probably create a tiktok for this right?
